SCWTA Mission
The SCWTA mission is to promote player development, productivity, good sportsmanship and self-reliance for persons with disabilities.
SCWTA provides the opportunity for personal growth through integrative and educational programs which foster public acceptance and encourage community participation. Wheelchair tennis provides disabled athletes with an avenue to keep their bodies and minds active and in shape. Our association promotes independence, physical fitness, improved self-esteem, camaraderie, and a sense of belonging. Competition improves sports skills and allows disabled individuals to experience the excitement of competion, the thrill of victory, and the agony of defeat. These experiences help individuals face the adversity of a disability in their lives and to learn to bounce back in the face of challenge and change. The SCWTA wheelchair tennis program includes an annual tournament, twice weekly practice sessions, and various clinics in collaboration with other community partners. Practice sessions and clinics help us to enhance performance and improve our game.
