Sacramento Capitals Wheelchair Tennis Association

SCWTA is a grass roots organization formed in 2003 by a group of recreational and elite wheelchair tennis players.  During the summer of 2003 SCWTA was incorporated and established as a not for profit charitable organization. The first SCWTA tournament was held September 27-28, 2003 with 37 registered players and 5 new United States Tennis Association members.  Play was held at the American River College campus in Sacramento, CA. 

Since it’s inception the annual tournament has grown from a United States Tennis Association sanctioned tournament to an International Tennis Federation and United States Tennis Association National tournment.  As a result, the tournament has attracted increasing numbers of youth and adult competitors.  In 2006 the SCWTA Board was fortunate to secure the donation of Johnson Ranch Racquet Club as the tournament's new venue.   Johnson Ranch provided much needed amenties for tournament players including locker rooms, an air conditioned lounge, and pro shop. 

Who We Are

The SCWTA organization is made up of wheelchair tennis players who have achieved both National and World Ranking and are members of the United States Tennis Association and the International Tennis Foundation.
